Work in Europe for 13 months..

"Work in Europe for 13 months" - That was the headline of the Craigslist add that I applied to in June 2011. Just four months later, I said farewell to Seattle and arrived at my new home in Garmisch-Partenkirchen, Germany. While here, I will be working at Edelweiss Lodge and Resort and traveling throughout Europe...

Berlin

I took a long weekend trip to Berlin with my co-workers. The morning we left was a beautiful Autumn day in Garmisch!

Checking out the East Side Gallery, a stretch of the Berlin Wall that was made into the largest outdoor art gallery.

Some of the murals along the wall

Bridget and Matt separated by the wall...

The German Art Museum

On our city bike tour, it was freezing!

The Berliner Dom was built to look older than it actually is. Most of Berlin had to be rebuilt after the war.

You can see the patchwork that was done on the columns after the bombings in Berlin during the war

Checkpoint Charlie

Those are actors, not actual U.S. army

The Holocaust Memorial

The Reichstag, the glass-domed parliament building

Ethiopian food for dinner!

The first night we were there was the last night of the Festival of Lights in Berlin. We walked through the city to take some pictures of the historical buildings all lit up!

We stood in line for half an hour for the best doner kebap of our lives! At Mustafas..

Hotel Adlon, where Michael Jackson held his baby over the balcony

The Brandenburg Gate was an east-west crossing point after the Berlin Wall was built in 1961.
